Jefferson Davis VINE Coverage
The Louisiana Commission on Law Enforcement presents LA VINE as a joint effort. It spans sheriffs, prosecutors, law enforcement, and corrections. Its job is custody status. Adults in participating parish jails and Louisiana state prisons are monitored. Web and phone inquiries are free, and so is registration. Searches can stay anonymous.
Jefferson Davis Parish appears on the state roster list with its own deployment. Older web addresses still carry LAVNS naming, while current official text says LA VINE. VINELink is the public person-search interface. None of these are separate arrest databases.
VINE answers one narrow question. Where does this person sit in the covered system, and has that status changed? A certified court disposition is not part of the answer. Photos come from elsewhere. The JDPSO roster displays booking photos. The VINE roster example lists only custody and identity fields.
Run a Jefferson Davis VINE Check
Start with the person's legal name, adding a second identifier when the form offers one. Common names often return several candidates, so never pick a result on the name alone.
- Open the VINELink Louisiana person search.
- Confirm Louisiana as the state and choose the applicable custody system or jurisdiction when prompted.
- Enter the legal name or available identifier. Try a careful spelling variant if no result appears.
- Compare identifying fields and custody location across possible matches before opening a record.
- Review the current status, facility, record identifier, and available registration control.
The interface is dynamic and may require JavaScript. Its live labels should control if the form changes. Compare any VINE result with the sheriff's record for a parish booking, or with LA DPS&C for a sentenced state prisoner. One system should not answer another system's question. The official Louisiana search screen shows the entry point for a named-person lookup.

This interface capture documents the search path without republishing a roster of faces.
Jefferson Davis VINE Result Fields
Exact displays can change, but the official deployment material supports several core custody fields. Read them as a snapshot, not a criminal case history.
| VINE field | Use and limit |
|---|---|
| Name or identifier | Helps locate and distinguish a person; verify all matching details. |
| Date of birth | An identity cross-check described for roster data; handle it with care. |
| Gender and race | Fields the state deployment says may appear, not proof of identity alone. |
| Arrest or booking date | A custody-system timestamp that may differ from incident time. |
| Custody status | Shows whether the covered system reports the person in custody or changed status. |
| Facility | Identifies the reporting jail or state prison when supplied. |
| Notification option | Starts registration for supported custody events. |
Rosters, VINE status, and court dockets change on different schedules. Release may bring a transfer to another facility. An absence can reflect processing, spelling, a nonparticipating system, a protected record, or custody outside Louisiana VINE.
Register Jefferson Davis Custody Alerts
Searching and registering are separate acts. Opening a person's result subscribes no one. Use the registration option attached to the correct record, and read the form before submitting contact details.
- Verify the person and facility on the live result.
- Select the registration or notification control linked to that record.
- Choose a supported contact channel, such as phone or email, as offered on screen.
- Create or enter the requested PIN or security code and complete confirmation.
- Save the record details and update contact information if it changes.
The official LA VINE phone line is 866-LAVNS-4-U, or 866-528-6748, handling both status checks and registration. A PIN protects the registration workflow. Keep it private. Alerts cover release, transfer, or other supported custody changes. Verify before acting on one, especially when timing matters. Phone and email delivery can fail, contact details go stale, and a system can post after the real event, so keep the jail's number as a backup.
Thirty-Minute Louisiana VINE Updates
The LCLE roster deployment page gives one unusually clear technical detail. Each participating jail roster is fed from its jail-management system. Updates arrive every 30 minutes. That is scheduled data transfer, not a promise that someone appears half an hour after an arrest.
Jail data has to exist first. Before a feed can reach VINE, the arresting agency must deliver the person and the jail must complete intake. JDPSO describes fingerprints, a booking photo, paperwork, and placement into the jail population. Any delay there comes first. Corrections and outages add another gap.
Local VINE registration is not Louisiana Victim Outreach. The LA DPS&C victim services page says projected and actual release notices for state inmates presently require its separate victim-outreach registration. A local subscription does not guarantee every state-custody notice.
Note: The 30-minute feed schedule begins with jail-system data and does not measure the time from street arrest to completed booking.
Fresh Jefferson Davis Arrest Checks
For a very recent arrest with no VINELink match, use the Arrested Today process. Search the JDPSO current roster newest first. Then try the release route. For urgent custody questions, call the sheriff at 337-821-2100, the Jefferson Davis Parish Sheriff's Office non-emergency line. The state VINE line is one more channel.
Check spelling and drop assumptions. A person may still be with a municipal agency, in parish intake, already released, or held in a different jurisdiction. Juvenile, sealed, protected, municipal, federal, and immigration records do not all feed the local adult VINE system.
VINE Custody System Boundaries
VINE keeps track of custody, not every arrest in Jefferson Davis Parish. Two layers make up the Louisiana system. The state prison layer belongs to LA DPS&C. The parish booking layer belongs to the Jefferson Davis Parish Sheriff's Office. So where an arrested person is held decides which record you see. Once someone is sentenced, that person is moved into state custody. The parish's current inmate view no longer applies.
Some custody falls outside LA VINE entirely. Federal cases are one example. For a person held by the Federal Bureau of Prisons, use the official BOP inmate locator instead. Immigration detention works the same way. The official ICE detainee locator covers those held by immigration authorities. DHS runs its own VINE-branded site for that population. It does not feed automatically from the parish jail.
City arrests add another wrinkle. Police in Jennings, Welsh, and Lake Arthur can take a person into custody on their own. The parish record only shows up after that person is booked into the shared jail system. Keep the two roles separate in your mind. The agency that made the arrest is not always the agency holding the inmate. A city police report can exist even when VINE shows no parish custody match.
One last boundary matters. VINE tracks custody, not the court case. Jefferson Davis Parish prosecutions move through the 31st Judicial District Court. The clerk of court keeps those files. Charges can be reduced or dismissed after the booking record changes. So the custody status never tells the whole story.
